DIFC issues warning over rogue email

Dubai financial centre warns would-be investors in the region to steer clear of scam email in circulation.

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) warned on Monday against an email scam where individuals are invited to participate as brokers and agents in an equity investment portfolio management programme that doesn’t exist.

“The invitations may suggest that certain leading organisations are privately looking for fiduciary agents and management experts who are willing to act as investment portfolio holders and administrators,” DIFC said in a statement.

The fraudulent schemes claim to offer financial rewards to those who participate and are linked to organised fraud.

The DIFC strongly advises against responding to these invitations.
