Payments solutions provider Network International has launched a management program dedicated to Emiratis, amid a sweep of government-led localisation among big companies in the UAE.

The program runs for two years, where participants are offered “wide exposure and hands-on experience in finance and other disciplines,” the Dubai-based firm said in a statement.

“We believe that the youth in this country are our future and empowering these young minds with crucial skill sets, purposeful practical experience, and a global perspective will go a long way in shaping the UAE’s economy,” Nandan Mer, chief executive officer of Network International, said.

The company has outlined rotation schedules, assignments, and coaching opportunities for the participants.

Successful completion of the program could mean full-time employment at Network International, it said.

“We are privileged to welcome the first set of trainees this year and strive to help advance young Emirati capabilities and expertise in the fintech sector,” its group chief of human resources Hend Al Ali said in a statement.

The UAE in recent years has encouraged the private sector to hire Emirati talent – even introducing incentives to companies who will meet their Emiratisation goals.

Just in July, Majid Al Futtaim, Emirates Gateway Security Services, and the Middle East unit of Teleperformance were recognised for their localisation drives.

Earlier this year, the UAE government has approved a law to increase Emiratisation rate in the country to 2 percent annually – to hit 10 percent by 2026 – for high-skilled jobs in companies that employ more than 50 workers or more.
