Formwork specialist Aluma Systems has won a US $2.2 million (AED8 million) contract to supply its new tunnel form system to a villa project in Abu Dhabi.
Aluma will provide 14 complete structures to the Manazel Al Reef Villas development, which is being built by Fibrex and consists of 2,500 villas, with a possible extension to 4,500.
“The system is a modification of our most famous product – the Alumalite Truss Flying Table-Form. The modification consists of two wall shutters, which connect to the table-form using a roll-back mechanism. This allows the contractor to pour the slab and the walls together, and is primarily applicable to box construction,” said Bob O’Riordan, regional sales director, Aluma Systems.
“Previous tunnel-form systems use all-steel fixed shutters to form the slab and the walls, making them very heavy, difficult to strip, and inflexible between projects.
“Our system is very light because it is completely constructed from aluminium; it is very quick to strip because it has a roll-back configuration, and is completely adaptable due to the flexible nature of the truss.”
At the end of the project, the contractor can either continue with the system on another tunnel form application, or split the system down into Alumalite Table Forms.
Aluma is currently chasing contracts in Abu Dhabi and Qatar for a further 6,000 villas.
