Infrastructure Development Enhances Dubai's Connectivity

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new progress in the construction of internal roads and street lighting in several key areas, with 72 percent of the project already completed.

The project includes roads of Margham, Lehbab, Al Lisaili, and Hatta, and spans a total distance of 38 kilometres, involving 19 kilometres of new roadwork and the addition of lighting poles along an additional 19 km of existing streets.

“The internal roads project had been undertaken in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai; and the instructions of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Executive Council to address the needs of demographic growth and urban expansion, and foster the wellbeing of residents of the emirate. It reflects RTA’s commitment to upgrading the infrastructure of roads, street lights, and rainwater drainage systems in residential communities,” Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors at RTA said.

Dubai’s infrastructure expansions benefit residents

In Margham, the internal roads project involves the construction of roads stretching 5 kilometres along Dubai-Al Ain Road, near Skydive Dubai.

This includes road paving, rainwater drainage networks, and streetlights, benefiting more than 11,000 residents, according to Al Tayer.

Lehbab’s internal roads project covers the paving of 5 kilometres of roads, along with essential infrastructure works such as rainwater drainage and streetlights.

Additionally, the project extends to lighting works along 2 kilometres of existing streets at the Dubai-Hatta Road beside Lehbab Camels’ Race Track.

These improvements serve over 3,000 residents and enhance the connectivity of the developing residential district with the road network, as explained by Al Tayer.

Al Lesaili sees a 7 kilometres span of internal road works as part of the project, along with street lighting for the existing roads at Saih Assalam near the Last Exit and Al Qudra Lakes over 14 kilometres. This initiative benefits around 2,900 residents and enhances entry/exit points in the area, according to Al Tayer.

Lastly, the Hatta project focuses on constructing 2 kilometres of roads, specifically at Saa’eer, Al Salami, and Suhaila, along with essential infrastructure works including rainwater drainage and streetlights.

It serves approximately 6,000 residents and enhances the entry/exit points and connectivity of the newly developed residential community with the road network, as concluded by Al Tayer.

In addition to these developments, RTA recently completed the construction of internal roads in three residential districts, namely Al Quoz 2, Nad Al Sheba 2, and Al Barsha South 3, spanning a total of 37 km and accommodating 12,000 residents.
