A multi-storey car park, which collapsed injuring six workers, had faults in its design, officials in charge of the investigation said.
Sultan al Mualla, director general of Sharjah Municipality, told the National, the Abu Shagara building collapsed due to an architectural error.
He declined to elaborate further, but added that no criminal charges have been brought.
The incident, which happened in October, left six workers needing hospital treatment. Four of the men suffered severe injuries, the paper reports.
However, it could have been much more serious as about 100 workers were on the site just minutes before the building fell.
The car park, once completed, would have had 1,681 parking spaces over nine levels and would have served one of Sharjah’s busiest areas.
Since the collapse the site has been fenced off and there are no plans to resume construction in the near future, the paper reports.
