Perma-Pipe Middle East (PPME) is planning to expand its operations in the region.
The American-owned pipe manufacturer is hoping to build factories in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and India, following the success of its first regional factory in Fujairah.
“The factory in Fujairah is 15 months old, but the company is expanding rapidly in the region because of the introduction of district cooling. It was no longer viable to ship the required amount of piping from the USA, so we built our own factory. We are hoping to build other factories in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and eventually India,” explained Chandru Gidwani, PPME vice-president.
The company is a 100% owned subsidiary of Perma-Pipe and was set up in 2005 to serve the insulated piping needs of the region’s district cooling and oil and gas industries. It supplies Qatar, Oman, UAE and Kuwait through its plant in Fujairah.
The facility has an output of 2km of piping per ten-hour shift. The firm also provides contractors with technical support.
