UAE bans private tutoring amid covid-19 restrictiions

The UAE’s Ministry of Education has banned private tutoring “until further notice” amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was announced on Thursday.

In a statement carried by the UAE’s state-run WAM news agency, the MoE said that it has banned “all forms of remedial tutoring offered to students at private entities, residences and educational institutions.”

Remote learning offered to students is exempt from the rule.

The Ministry said that the decision was taken as part of wider preventative and precautionary measures designed to combat the spread of Covid-19 and protect students.

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Education announced that public and private schools across the country, as well as universities, will continue to conduct their studies through distance learning platforms until the end of the academic year in June.
