US tech major Meta said it has entered into a three-year partnership with India’s education ministry as well as the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship to empower students, educators and entrepreneurs across the country.
Meta signed a letter of intent (LoI) with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) for free digital marketing courses to promote entrepreneurship and skill development in India, PTI reported.
It also signed two other LoIs with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the Department of Higher Education, and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
India’s Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan said the ‘Education to Entrepreneurship’ partnership will be a game-changer, which will take digital skilling to the grassroots.
The Minister also said this will build capacities of the talent pool, and seamlessly connect students, youth, workforce, and micro-entrepreneurs, with futuristic technologies.
In a video message Meta President, Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, said India’s talent base and rapid digital adoption make it the perfect place for the company to invest in emerging technologies.
