The UAE has launched a unified digital data platform linking 54 higher education institutions, marking a major milestone in the modernisation of the country’s education ecosystem.

Led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), the national integration project connects universities and colleges to a central system that provides real-time, accurate data to support policy development, academic planning and service delivery. Further institutions will be added as part of a phased expansion.

New era of data-driven education

The platform is designed to improve the student journey from enrolment to graduation and into employment. By streamlining admissions procedures and accelerating the recognition of qualifications, the system reduces administrative delays while improving the overall experience for students and institutions alike.

Through smart dashboards, the platform gives decision-makers access to live indicators on performance, trends and outcomes, enabling more informed planning at both institutional and national levels. The shift reflects a broader move towards data-driven governance in higher education.

The initiative also aligns with the recently introduced Federal Decree Law on Higher Education and Scientific Research, which places greater emphasis on learning outcomes and skills acquisition rather than traditional input-based measures. The law aims to raise quality, competitiveness and labour market alignment across the sector.

Universities already connected to the system report clear benefits. Dr Rawan Ghali, Director of Institutional Effectiveness at the American University in Dubai, said the integration has delivered “a positive impact on both academic and administrative performance” through secure, real-time data exchange with the Ministry.

Dr Eesa Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, said the project supports the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy programme and contributes to building a smart, interconnected higher education environment.

Leaders from Fujairah University, Gulf Medical University, Abu Dhabi University and Rabdan Academy also highlighted improvements in governance, quality assurance and evidence-based decision-making as a result of the integration.

MoHESR said the platform represents a qualitative leap in digital transformation, strengthening the readiness of the UAE’s higher education sector for a future built on innovation, transparency and measurable outcomes.
