Two years after he scaled Dubai’s Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest tower – French freestyle climber Alain Robert, known as the ‘Spiderman’, has set his sights on another of the emirate’s iconic buildings: the Cayan Tower.

Located in Dubai Marina, Cayan Tower is the world’s tallest ‘twisted’ building and each floor of the $272m structure is rotated by 1.2 degrees to achieve a full 90-degree twist.

Robert told the Xinhua news agency he is currently awaiting permission from the tower’s owners and he believed its unique design “presents a real challenge for freestyle climbers.”

The 50-year-old has been climbing buildings since 1994 and two years ago he took on the challenge of the 828-metre tall Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai.
