Arab network selects TSL for new HD sports trucks

The new HD OB trucks from TSL will allow high definition broadcast to viewers across the world.

UK-based systems integrator, TSL, which is currently building a huge HD production facility in Kuwait for Al Watan TV, has recently been awarded an OB contract by Arab Radio and Television Network (ART).

TSL will supply two fully equipped HD Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks and two associated trailers to a robust technical specification.

The new HD OB units and trailers, which are being built by Spectra Specialist Engineering in Westbury, UK, are 13.5 metres in length with expanding sides.

The trucks, which will be delivered to TSL for technical installation, will each be equipped for up to 20 HD cameras and will initially be configured with six channels of EVS XT2, four VTRs, Grass Valley Kayak HD vision switcher and a Studer Vista 5 digital audio console.

The integrated trailer system will feature dual redundant generators.

ART recently lost the English Premiership rights to Showtime Arabia. Not to be outdone, the Arab Network is now seeking to team up with local players to air regional sports events.

The new HD OB trucks, built by TSL specifically follow ART’s recent announcement that it has been awarded the rights to broadcast the 2007/2008 Saudi Football League in High Definition to viewers across the world.
