Kodak Cinelabs gets accreditation

Kodak Cinelabs Dubai (KCD) Film Laboratory, the only lab in the region that currently offers colour negative processing, film cleaning, and telecine transfer services, has achieved accreditation as a member of the Kodak Imagecare Programme for its camera negative processing. Being a member of this programme means the facility has officially been accredited for its ability to produce work that is of high quality.

“Programme membership is tough to achieve and the Kodak technical personnel at our French technical centre ensures that labs reach and maintain the highest standards before it is awarded to them,” says Richard Lawton, lab manager for the Dubai facility.

KCD has been operating for the last two-and-half-years in Dubai. “We have seen remarkable growth in Dubai and in the amount of film shooting that is carried out here. With the economy booming, advertising is also on a high. Local UAE productions and foreign production companies still invariably choose film as the preferred medium for shooting commercials.

“Kodak set up the lab at the request of the local industry and it has proved to be a big success for negative processing and telecine transfer,” adds Lawton.
