SAE Institute Dubai opens its doors

SAE stages open day at Knowledge Village campus, reveals DJ competition winner.

SAE Institute Dubai staged its annual open day for prospective students earlier this month at its Knowledge Village campus.

The open day programme, which was promoted under the banner ‘Study @ SAE 4 a Day’, provided members of the public the chance to sit in on a class with film, multimedia and audio production students to gain an insight into campus life.

Visitors were also provided with the opportunity to get to grips with the various technologies utilised by SAE students on a daily basis.

“The popularity of our ‘Study at SAE 4 a Day’ programme in Dubai accurately reflects our commitment to education in this region,” said Alexander Gehrig, SAE Institute’s associate regional director for Asia & Middle East.

In other news, SAE Dubai recently crowned the first ever winner of its Middle East DJ competition, which coincided with the launch of the institute’s DJ Digital course for summer 2008.

Firas Ali Haffar, a 19 year-old Syrian national, took out the competition, which was open to all amateur DJs aged between 17 and 25.

Ali Haffar was awarded a range of prizes for his efforts, including an M-Audio Torq Xponent DJ system, a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-1 Pro DJ headphones, and entry into SAE’s Electronic Music Production (EMP) Course.

The 12-week internationally recognised EMP Course will enable Ali Haffar to enhance his DJ-ing skills in a professional environment.

“The DJ competition was designed to bring together aspiring DJs from across the country and offer them the chance to enhance their skills by gaining access to the EMP course,” said Gehrig.

“We acknowledge the growing importance of the DJ scene in the Middle East and we plan to channel our educational services to ensure aspiring DJs can improve their technique at one of our three campuses located across the region.”
