Expo to bear fruit for Del Monte

With the opening of a production plant to produce fresh-cut fruit and vegetable salads and fresh juices in Dubai imminent, Del Monte, a USA-based fruit producer, is optimistic about attending its first Gulfood this month.

Furthermore, Del Monte will be showcasing a range of juices that are to be produced at the Dubai fatory at Gulfood 2007.

“In the retail sector we will introduce eight ultra fresh juice flavours in three sizes, four fresh fruit salad combinations in two sizes and four bagged salad mixes in two sizes,” a spokesman for Del Monte told Retail News Middle East. “These will be showcased at Gulfood and will be introduced into the market in late February.”

It will also introduce other new ranges to be produced by its fresh cut factory in Dubai. “We are perhaps most excited about the introduction of our brand new fresh cut range,” the spokesman said. “Del Monte has built a state of the art factory in Dubai to produce fresh cut fruit, bagged salad leaves and ultra fresh juice. It is the only facility of its kind in the region and will raise the bar on the fresh cut sector. The factory products will cater to both the retail and hotel, restaurant and catering sector, he added.”

The company also plans to use its presence at Gulfood to showcase its existing product portfolio from bananas and pineapples to canned fruit, vegetables and premium, packaged items such as Fruit Express “Del Monte’s push into the region has been very successful and our participation in Gulfood will enhance our visibility with the key stakeholders in the industry.

“The Del Monte brand represents quality and our aim is to highlight all of the products both fresh and packaged that falls under the brand’s umbrella,” the spokesman said.

Looking forward in the Middle East, Del Monte plans to capitalise on the existing know-how and proven product experience of the company worldwide. It also plans to use its technological advantage to offer products with unique quality and freshness, and to focus on the brand image that stands for healthy life style the spokesman added.
