Luxury fashion house Balenciaga has quit Twitter, joining other brands who did the same following billionaire Elon Musk’s social media platform last month and upended content rules.
Balenciaga confirmed that it deleted its Twitter account. Vogue had quit the social media platform earlier.
Other companies such as General Motors, Volkswagen, Pfizer and General Mills have reportedly paused advertising on the platform.
The luxury house, which is based in Paris, is the latest company to quit the social media platform since Musk took over on October 28.
Ever since then, Musk has implemented drastic changes, which include mass firing of employees, – some of which include senior executives – starting a paid verification service.
According to Bloomberg, on Friday, theatrical guide Playbill left a final tweet for its 400,000 followers that read: “Because of its tolerance for hate, negativity and misinformation, our time with the social media platform has come to an end.” It warned fans to ignore any content from a Twitter account that contains the Playbill name. “Please understand that it is not us.”
