UAE alcohol delivery: How to get the Dubai, Abu Dhabi licence

Here is how you can apply for an alcohol licence in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Recently, Arabian Business reported that both alcohol retailers MMI and CityDrinks have launched a mobile delivery app that allows customers to order alcoholic beverages to their destination of choice in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively.

However, the customer does need proof of verification before placing an order. In Dubai, customers require an alcohol licence whereas in Abu Dhabi, customers require an Emirates ID.

That said, here is how you can apply for an alcohol licence in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dubai alcohol licence: How to apply

  • Step 1: Download the ‘Licence DXB’ mobile application on Google Play or App Store on Android and iOS devices, respectively.
  • Step 2: Enter your details (first name, last name, mobile number, nationality and date of birth).
  • Step 3: Click on the check box to agree to the Terms of Registration, and then click on ‘Next’.
  • Step 4: On the membership registration page, enter your email address.
  • Step 5: Click on the ‘Tourist’ or ‘Resident’ option.
  • Step 6: Enter your Emirates ID number.
  • Step 7: Choose your favourite vendor (i.e MMI or African + Eastern).
  • Step 8: Click on the check box to confirm that you have read the Terms of Registration above.

Abu Dhabi customers only need a UAE Emirates ID

  • When registering to order alcohol on the CityDrinks mobile application, customers just need to enter their location.
  • Click on the alcoholic beverage of your choice and go to your cart.
  • Next, click on ‘Verify ID and place the order’. The app will the redirect you to a verification page, where you have to upload a government-issued ID (Emirates ID, Driver’s Licence, or Passport).
  • You will also have to be in a well-lit place to take a self and photos of your ID.
