Strata Manufacturing PJSC, the advanced composite aerostructures company wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Airbus to manufacture ailerons for the A320 family aircraft, marking a major expansion of Strata’s production capabilities and a long-term partnership with the European aerospace leader.

Under the new agreement, Strata will produce 50 per cent of Airbus’s global demand for A320 ailerons, supporting the manufacturer’s ramp-up to meet a backlog of more than 7,000 aircraft.

Production will take place at Strata’s Al Ain facility, where half of the workforce on the new line will be Emirati, including engineers and production technicians.

The MoA was signed by Sara Abdulla Al Memari, Acting CEO of Strata Manufacturing, and Nicola Coombs, VP – Head of Aerostructures Wing Procurement at Airbus.

The signing was attended by Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, Ismail Ali Abdulla, Managing Director of Strata and Executive Director of UAE Clusters at Mubadala, and Wouter Van Wersch, EVP International and Executive Vice President Airbus Africa and Middle East.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, Managing Director of Strata, said the agreement marks a new chapter in Strata’s 17-year partnership with Airbus. “For over 17 years, our partnership with Airbus has been a journey of innovation, excellence, and shared ambition. Today, this collaboration reaches new heights as we expand our portfolio to include ailerons for the Airbus A320 family high-rate programme — a first for Strata and a significant step forward in scale and capability,” he said.

He added that the milestone reflects the UAE’s growing influence in advanced manufacturing and global aviation. “This achievement reflects the exceptional dedication of our team, the quality of our products, and our unwavering commitment to advancing the global aerospace industry under the proud mark of ‘Made with pride in the UAE.’”

Wouter Van Wersch of Airbus said: “The trust and excellence demonstrated by Strata and Mubadala throughout our nearly two-decade partnership make them the natural choice for this critical new work package. This agreement for A320 ailerons is a testament to Strata’s advanced capabilities and will be essential in supporting Airbus’ production ramp-up.”

The collaboration builds on a partnership that began in 2008, when Strata first produced A330 inboard flaps for Airbus. Since then, Strata has supplied components across several Airbus programmes, including the A350 and A380, and is expected to expand further to include A400M work packages.
