A Chinese game developer has appointed a new chief executive officer – artificial intelligence-powered virtual humanoid robot “Ms. Tang Yu.”

NetDragon Websoft, which operates multiplayer online games and creates mobile applications, appoint Yu as the CEO of its principal subsidiary.

The move makes her the world’s first robot to hold an executive position.

“We believe AI is the future of corporate management, and our appointment of Ms. Tang Yu represents our commitment to truly embrace the use of AI to transform the way we operate our business,” NetDragon’s chairman Dejian Liu said.

Modeled after a female human, the robot CEO will mainly help streamline the companies’ processes and enhance operational efficiency.

She will serve as a real-time data hub and analytical tool to support daily operations, NetDragon said, and is also expected to play a part in talent development.
