The American University in Cairo has teamed with Nortel and Symantec for part of the infrastructure of a multi-billion dollar new campus which will put the university at the forefront of IT implementation in the region.
Sami Akabawi, associate vice president for computing at the university said the new campus will be located in New Cairo approximately 40 kilometres from the old campus.
The university said it was working with various IT partners on the US$15 million development to create the most advanced campus “technologically speaking in the region and will compete even with some universities in the US,” he said.
