More than 1,000 companies operating in fields such as blockchain and NFTs are headquartered in Dubai. The city’s innovation ecosystem, founded on supportive regulatory and legislative framework as well as a digital infrastructure, attracts global talent, experts and pioneers.

Dubai’s leadership is focused on harnessing emerging technologies that will help the emirate’s transition to a digital economy, supported by a range of strategies, programmes and initiatives designed to support new technologies that will enable the expansion of the metaverse.

The UAE has the world’s fastest mobile and broadband connection speed and is the only Arab country in the top most digitally competitive countries.

UAE also ranked first globally in the Global Entrepreneurship Index 2022.

Earlier this year, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.

The strategy seeks to place Dubai among the top 10 metaverse economies globally and the first in the region. It aims to support as many as 40,000 virtual jobs and generate up to $4 billion to the emirate’s GDP by 2030. The jobs will mainly be in the fields of augmented and virtual reality.
