WhatsApp has announced a new feature for video calls.
The messaging app now allows users to create a call link ahead of a catch-up with friends and colleagues into one video or voice call.
To create and share a secure WhatsApp call link for others with WhatsApp accounts to join, follow these steps:
- Open the Calls tab.
- Tap on ‘Create Call Link.’
- Choose the type of call you want to make, either video or voice.
- You can either copy the link or send it via WhatsApp to your contacts, or use the ‘Share Link’ option to send it through other apps.
However, it is important to note that users who are blocked cannot use your call link, and these links will expire if unused for 30 days. WhatsApp may revoke links for privacy and security reasons.
To remove or block a call participant:
- In an ongoing call, press and hold the participant’s name or phone number.
- Select Remove [participant name] or [phone number].
- Choose either ‘Remove’ or ‘Remove and block’.
It is worth noting that removed participants will be notified that they have been removed from the call, and they won’t be able to rejoin the call if they were blocked.
