The new E-marine cable depot in Oman’s Port of Salalah is now operational, providing safe storage and maintenance services for highly sensitive undersea cables.“This strategic location of cable depot in the Port Of Salalah enhances E-marine’s services in the Western Indian Ocean, East Africa and the Red Sea,” said Omar Bin Kalban, managing director and CEO of E-marine PJSC.
The specialized depot will also carry out maintenance activities to cater to growing demand for such services in the region. One cable ship with work class ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) will be stationed at the port of Salalah enabling E-Marine to reach necessary areas faster.
The company expects 80% of its available space at its depot, consisting for eight submarine cable storage tanks, to be utilized by the end of the 2009.
