Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), a Public Investment Fund (PIF) owned company, plans to create a resilient agri-food sector in Saudi Arabia and globally by joining hands with Swiss company Syngenta Crop Protection AG, a world-wide leader in agricultural innovation.
The two companies have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) in Basel, Switzerland, to combine their expertise to bolster global food security through strategic partnerships, technology and responsible practices. They plan to explore joint projects in sustainable farming, digital agriculture, soil health, crop protection solutions, and other areas.

Among some of the projects the two entities are looking to work on are climate-smart farming practices, sustainable soil management, crop and seed solutions, capacity building, technical training, best practice-sharing initiatives, and knowledge transfer through the creation of centres of excellence. They will also work on water conservation, development of soil regeneration methods, and digital farm management platforms.
SALIC was formed in 2012 invests across the agri-food value chain to enhance the Kingdom’s food security in line with Saudi Vision 2030. It has built a diversified global portfolio in grains, livestock, processing, and agri-tech, alongside strategic partnerships worldwide.
