Following Twitter chief Elon Musk’s poll where he said he would step down as chief executive of Twitter based on the results, the Tesla founder is currently on the lookout for ‘someone foolish enough’ as his replacement.

However, on Monday, Musk said “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive.”

That being said, here is a list of people who could potentially be Musk’s replacement.

1. Jack Dorsey

After stepping into running the social networking platform twice, co-founder Jack Dorsey could be the next Twitter chief.

Dorsey resigned as chief executive in November 2021, after serving as chief executive of both Twitter and payment firm Square. Dorsey also gave up his seat at the Twitter board seat, following his resignation.

2. Sriram Krishnan

Sriram Krishnan, who worked at the social networking platform as one of the executives until last year, was reportedly “temporarily helping” Musk.

Krishnan is also part of Musk’s inner circle, and is a “very traditional” middle-income household, according to the BBC.

However, Krishnan’s meeting with Musk is not clear, but the former has been an admirer of the latter often describing him as an “inspirational person and an iconic founder”.

3. Jared Kushner

Also known as former US President Trump’s son-in-law, Kushner was seen alongside Musk during the Argentina-France World Cup match on Sunday in Qatar.

Fans have speculated that he could be the replacement for Musk at the social networking platform.

4. David Sacks

Tech investor and podcaste, Sacks is reportedly part of Musk’s ‘inner circle’.

According to the BBC, Sacks was involved during the beginning of PayPal with Musk and is a member of the so-called “PayPal Mafia” – a group of former executives of the firm who have become billionaires by founding some of Silicon Valley’s most successful tech businesses.

5. Sarah Friar

Former finance boss at Square, a payments company set up by Twitter co-founder Dorsey, Friar currently works as the chief executive of Nextdoor.

Nextdoor is a social network focused on local neighbourhoods.

6. Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl Sandberg, was the former chief operating officer at Meta. Sandberg had resigned in June to focus on philanthropy.

According to a report by the BBC, Sandberg had transformed Facebook’s revenue strategy, positioning the platform the platform to make profits from small business advertising and being at the helm during its meteoric rise.

7. David Marcus

Marcus, who is the former president of PayPal, is quite close to Musk, especially as was one of the first tech leaders to welcome cryptocurrency.

After heading Meta’s cryptocurrency Diem and Messenger, Marcus now runs a crypto-focused company Lightspark, which works on “extending the capabilities” of bitcoin.

8. Parag Agarwal

Musk had immediately sacked Twitter’s former boss Parag Agrawal, following his takeover. However, given how things were before the Musk takeover, Agarwal could be roped back in.

9. Edward Snowden

Notably known as the whistleblower at the National Security Agency, Edward Snowden took it to Twitter to reply to Musk’s tweet saying “I take payment in Bitcoin”.
