Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, a Microsoft-backed UAE firm, has stated that the UAE has become a global leader in artificial intelligence.
Xiao was speaking at a roundtable during GITEX Global 2024, and argued that the country’s global standing in AI was due to its early adoption and commitment to advancing the national economy.
According to the CEO, the Emirates is not just a consumer of AI, but also an innovator in its own right – Xiao pointed to the establishment of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence as examples of this.
Despite its early lead, Xiao did add that international cooperation will be key for success in AI, adding that he expects to see more UAE-US projects in artificial intelligence happening in the future.
