The first UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU) forum on the metaverse opens in Riyadh on Tuesday, March 7.
The forum is expected to promote global dialogue by providing a global platform to explore challenges and promising opportunities, strengthen its standards and organisation, and create a safe and prosperous environment for its services.
The three-day event is organised by the Saudi National Cybersecurity Authority, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, and the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE), in partnership with the ITU, the UN specialised agency for information and communication technologies.
The forum will hold several dialogue sessions in which local and international specialists address the importance of adopting, enabling, and regulating metaverse services and applications in Saudi Arabia.
They also will discuss interoperability of metaverse and the future of cybersecurity in protecting its various applications and services.
