A Saudia flight from Jeddah to Manchester was forced to circle around the north of England after the aircraft developed an issue with its wing flaps.
Saudia flight SV 123 left Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International airport at 4.11am (local time) this morning and was due to land in Manchester just before 9am, UK time.

The six and a half hour flight, however, was severely extended when the aircraft developed an issue with its wing flaps.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was forced to circle around the Peak District of England at 7,000 feet while the pilots burned the fuel on board, and also attempting to resolve the issue.
The aircraft eventually landed at Manchester around 12.30pm.
A spokesman for Saudia confirmed there was a “technical issue” with the aircraft but did not provide any details.
“The aircraft has landed safely at Manchester Airport,” a Saudi spokesman for Saudia told Manchester Evening News.
“There are no casualties or any injuries.
“The crew are fully trained in dealing with this type of incident.
“There was a technical problem that will be dealt with after the aircraft has landed.”
