The first international flights will depart from Jeddah’s new King Abdul Aziz International Airport from tomorrow (Friday).

The flights will be destined for two airports in the Gulf, with Saudi Arabian Airlines taking off from Terminal 1 bound for Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. These will both go on to be daily services.

A third flight to Muscat, Oman, will start on Saturday (August 10), with an average of four services a week, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

The 800,000-square-metre transportation hub is expected to attract more than 30 million visitors, Hajj and Umrah passengers annually to Saudi Arabia’s Western region.

The new airport is one of the largest of its kind in the world and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Saudi Vision 2030. It will serve as a central hub for tourism, transportation and economic development that will strengthen the connection between the Western region and the rest of the world.
