Abu Dhabi Airports has revealed that the runways of the Al Bateen Executive Airport will remain shut for two months from May 11 to July 20, 2022 due to refurbishment works.
The works will include maintenance and expansion of the runway at the airport to boost operational safety levels and enhance airport capability.
Once the refurbishment works are complete, the Al Bateen Executive Airport will be able to accommodate larger aircrafts.
During the refurbishment works, the airport will remain open only to helicopter traffic, the airports authority stated.
Abu Dhabi Airports also stated that it is in close contact with its stakeholders and customers to ensure minimal disruption and a seamless return to full service on July 21, 2022.

Meanwhile, Dubai Airports has confirmed that the northern runway rehabilitation project at Dubai International (DXB) started on May 9 and will carry on until June 22, 2022.
The essential works being carried out will see the world’s busiest international airport’s operations reduce to a one runway operation.
To minimise disruption, more than 1,000 flights per week are scheduled to arrive and depart from Dubai World Central (DWC) during the 45-day period, with the majority of those flights being operated by flydubai, Spice Jet, and Indigo.
Dubai Airports is also advising passengers who are due to travel into or out of Dubai during the closure period to check with their respective airlines in advance to confirm the airport and/or terminal prior to their departure or arrival.
Dubai Airports has also confirmed transport links between the two airports, including an inter-airport complimentary 24/7 coach service, free on-site parking facilities for passengers at DWC, and special fares for RTA taxis flagged for journeys from DWC.
The northern runway rehabilitation project will involve the placement of approximately 160,000 tonnes of asphalt and 30,000m3 of concrete to strengthen and resurface the runway and the adjacent taxiways.
Approximately 264 km of secondary cables will be replaced and over 4,400 runway lights have been upgraded to modern, economic and environmentally friendly technology as part of the project.
DXB’s northern runway previously underwent a similar rehabilitation programme in 2014, and the southern runway was refurbished in 2019.
