European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said it plans to recruit more than 13,000 people globally in 2023.
The new hires would support its commercial aircraft ramp-up, and meet challenges in defence, space and helicopters, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The company said around 7,000 of these jobs will be newly created posts.
Over 9,000 of the new posts will be in Europe, and the rest throughout the firm’s global network.
New opportunities at Airbus
The company said the new hires will be with skills to support its long-term projects and maintain its position as an aerospace industry leader.
The manufacturer said approximately one-quarter of the planned recruitment this year will be focused on jobs in such fields of decarbonisation, digital transformation, software engineering and cyber technology.
“A third of the total recruitment will be allocated to young graduates, from which Airbus plans to evolve future senior functional and business leaders through technical and leadership development, networking and exposure to top management,” the company statement said.
Thierry Baril, Chief Human Resources and Workplace Officer at Airbus, said the company demonstrated its resilience throughout the Covid-19 crisis, and is now very well positioned for the next challenges.
“We call on talented individuals from all over the world to join us in our journey to make sustainable aerospace a reality and to help us build a better, more diverse, and inclusive workplace for all our employees,” Baril said.

Among the key profiles sought by Airbus for its hiring drive are digital and cyber, engineering and manufacturing engineering and customer services.
In Airbus’ production environment, hiring opportunities cover areas such as quality, supply chain management, and industrial operations.
Baril said while expanding its global staffing with the new hires, Airbus will continue its emphasis on diversity across the company.
The manufacturer said that in 2022 it had already hired the same number of people and that it currently employs more than 130,000 people worldwide.
