Low cost airlines VivaAerobus, based in Mexico, and AerOasis, based in Colombia, have adopted Amadeus’ customer management IT solution (CMS) for low cost carriers. These successes bring the number of airlines that have adopted the system to six in 12 months.
Frédéric Spagnou, vice-president, airline business group, Amadeus, said: “The breadth and diversity of our [low cost carrier] LCC customer base clearly testifies to the fact that our solutions are able to meet the most pressing needs of carriers in this segment today: flexibility, scalability and cost-effectiveness. The success of low cost carriers to date has been based on their understanding of customer needs. As these needs evolve, the carriers need to be able to rely on their systems to deliver and support the services necessary for growth.”
Amadeus’ system is designed to manage a range of processes, from booking to baggage collection. The software includes sales, web, call centre, inventory and departure control functionality.
Mike Szucs, CEO, VivaAerobus, said: “We have significant growth predictions in the coming years and we must therefore be able to scale and adapt. We are growing into new markets where we will need to explore innovative booking and payment methodologies, along with increasing regulatory demands on aspects such as immigration.
“With Amadeus, we have the confidence that they will be able to work with us to support the customer needs in these new markets and most importantly, be able to deliver these solutions in line with our cost expectations.”
