Dubai Metro passengers have been told to use a bus service following a technical fault.
The city’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced disruption at the GGICO Station.
The station is part of the transport network’s Red Line and a replacement bus service is in place.
Dubai Metro disruption
In a message on social media, the RTA said: “For #DubaiMetro Red line users, #RTA informs you that the Metro service at GGICO Station has been disrupted due to a technical issue.
“Buses have been provided to transport passengers heading to Centrepoint and Expo stations. We thank you for your understanding.”
The Metro, launched in 2009, is a driverless, fully automated metro network that runs operations across two lines: the Red Line and the Green Line.
Ever since its launch, the Metro has transported more than two billion passengers, with the Roads and Transport Authority revealing that the metro’s Red Line transported 1.342bn commuters, while the Green Line served 673.531m commuters.
Operated by the RTA, the Metro is also the first urban train network in the Arabian Peninsula.
