Dubai Police has issued a warning regarding the improper use of e-scooters on roads, which has led to 5 deaths, 29 injuries and over 10,000 violations over the past 8 months.
In an X post, the authority warned against riding a bicycle in a way that endangers the cyclist or the life and safety of others.
Those caught in the act as per the video, will incur a fine worth AED300.
Director of the General Department of Traffic Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, emphasised on Dubai Police’s commitment to promoting traffic awareness and education for all road users in order to reduce traffic accidents and human casualties.
Al Mazroui has stressed the importance of adherence to safety measures for bicycle and e-scooter riders.

“These measures encompass compliance with traffic regulations, staying on designated paths, avoiding roads with speeds exceeding 60km/h, wearing helmets and reflective jackets, obeying traffic signals and other road signs, and ensuring that the vehicles are equipped with bright white and reflective front lights, as well as bright red and reflective rear lights. Additionally, functional brakes are imperative,” he said.
He further highlighted that all road users, including drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, have the right to safely use the roads.
Al Mazroui reaffirmed Dubai Police’s dedication to achieving the highest levels of compliance with traffic regulations, thus enhancing road safety in the emirate.
He made it clear that Dubai Police continues to actively engage in road safety operations, which primarily aim to reduce traffic law violations and apprehend reckless drivers.
