Dubai’s RTA carries 5.9 million passengers during Eid Al Fitr holiday

A total of 5.9 million riders were transported by the various modes of public transport between April 10-12 to celebrate Eid in Dubai

Dubai’s public transport system witnessed a huge increase in passengers during the Eid Al Fitr holidays earlier this month, according to figures released by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

A total of 5.9 million riders were transported by the various modes of public transport between April 10-12 to celebrate Eid, which marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Dubai Metro carried the largest number of passengers at 2.32 million over the three day period on its Red and Green lines.

In addition, the Dubai Tram lifted 115 thousand passengers and public buses served 1.2 million riders. For water transport, 416 thousand people used the marine services.

Private hire vehicles also saw significant demand, with taxis transporting 1.6 million passengers and shared mobility such as ride-hailing apps serving 308,000 users.
