Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the Al Ruwayyah Yard project as part of efforts to enhance urban organisation, support sustainability plans and improve quality of life across the emirate.
The new facility is designed to preserve Dubai’s urban landscape and tourism appeal by streamlining parking and addressing unregulated vehicle storage. It provides organised, dedicated parking for caravans, boats including jet skis, trailers and food vending vehicles, helping to reduce random parking in residential areas and along road corridors.
The initiative is led by the RTA, which said the project reflects its commitment to improving traffic management while supporting Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for living, tourism and business.
Organised parking for Dubai’s specialist vehicles
Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, said the project aims to deliver integrated and secure parking solutions for specialist vehicles, while curbing unregulated practices that affect traffic flow and road safety.
“This initiative represents a key pillar in curbing unregulated practices and maintaining smooth traffic flow. The yard will provide 335 dedicated parking spaces, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, directly contributing to safeguarding the road right-of-way, enhancing traffic safety, and enhancing the city’s overall visual appeal,” Al Ali said.
He added that the Al Ruwayyah Yard project forms part of a wider series of initiatives supporting sustainable urban development and the optimal use of RTA assets, including land plots across different areas of the emirate. The project also helps address challenges caused by random and unregulated parking within road right-of-way areas and residential neighbourhoods.
“Al Ruwayyah Yard project forms part of a series of initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable urban development and the optimal utilisation of RTA assets, including land plots across various areas of the emirate,” he said. “It also helps address challenges arising from random and unregulated parking within the road right-of-way and residential areas, supporting RTA’s ambitious plans to make Dubai the world’s best city to live and work in, while meeting the aspirations of residents, visitors, and tourists from across the globe.”
The authority said work is currently underway to study the expansion of the service to other locations across Dubai, with the aim of achieving wider coverage and ensuring the facility is easily accessible to individuals and companies throughout the emirate.
Al Ali noted that the project was implemented and is being managed in collaboration with a specialised company in Dubai. He said this approach reflects the RTA’s commitment to working with the private sector and aligns with the Dubai Government’s vision to strengthen public-private partnerships in delivering vital infrastructure projects, while supporting the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
