A Gulf Air flight from Bahrain to London was forced to make an emergency landing after technical issues led to a drop in cabin pressure.
The flight landed at London Heathrow Airport, its intended destination, without incident and all 89 passengers on board disembarked safely, according to Bahrain News Agency.
“The safety, protection and comfort of our passengers and employees are of utmost importance and Gulf Air crew are trained to handle such incidents, as evidenced by the level of professionalism shown by both the pilots and cabin crew as well as all of our teams on the ground,” Gulf Air said in a statement.
The Airbus A330-200 was at flying at 40,000 feet, about 25 nautical miles east of Oostende (Belgium), when it developed the technical issue, according to Aviation Herald. It said the pilot initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 due to the loss of cabin pressure and landed safely in London 40 minutes later.
