A Saudi airport is advising passengers to arrive at least four hours before their scheduled departure time in order to assure smooth travel.

The King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah said that large groups passing through following Ramadan and Umrah season are expected to cause delays.

Passengers departing Saudi Arabia through the Jeddah airport are at the highest numbers during this season.

The airport also advised passengers to not arrive more than six hours early.

A message on social media said: “Passengers with a valid travel ticket for their destination would report without any delay so as to ensure the completion of their travel procedures on time.

“This directive comes out of the keenness of the KAIA administration to ensure the speedy completion of the travel procedures in view of the high frequency of the air traffic witnessed by the airport due to the continued return of the Umrah pilgrims to their countries”.

Meanwhile, a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency said, Jeddah Airports Company said the operational plan for the peak Umrah season was successful.

The airport witnessed a smooth flow of movement despite the increased number of operations and flights since the beginning of the season.

The airport served more than 4.4m passengers during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

Jeddah Airports increased its readiness earlier this year by adopting the operational plan for the Umrah season, which focuses on providing all facilities to the expected big numbers of people arriving to perform Umrah through the airport terminals during Ramadan.

The terminals were equipped to provide the best services at the highest levels of performance, thus offering passengers seamless travel experience.
