Jeddah Islamic Port

A new integrated logistics park, construction of new births and deepening of the approach channels at the Jeddah Islamic Port are among the series of pre-agreement pacts and contracts signed by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) at the Saudi Maritime Congress in Dammam on Wednesday.

The value of the new infrastructure projects to be implemented is to the tune of over SAR900 million, SPA reported.

The pacts were signed by Mawani with its partners from the public and private sectors.

The new projects are part of Mawani’s plans to modernise operations and logistical support at Saudi ports.

The contract signed with Globe Group is to build an integrated logistics park and a re-export zone at Jeddah Islamic Port, while the contract with PC Marine Services is for constructing new berths and multi-purpose berths at the port to accommodate large dry bulk vessels.

Mawani also signed a contract with Modern Building Leaders (MBL) in cooperation with Huta Hegerfeld Saudia Ltd, to implement the project of deepening the approach channels, turning basins, waterways, and the southern terminal basin at Jeddah Islamic Port.

It also signed contracts with Giza Arabia to implement the security system project at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu, and with King Abdulaziz University to implement the best practices in the fields of research, training, and academic affairs related to ports as well as the maritime transport and logistics sector.
