UAE announces new speed limits, fines for violators

Violators of new speed limits will be subject to fines

Abu Dhabi police announced a new minimum speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road starting April 2023. The minimum and maximum speed limit will be displayed on sign boards above the highway.

The four-lane road will have different speed limit allocations depending on the lane the driver is on. The rightmost lane will have a minimum speed limit of 80 and a maximum of 140.

The third and fourth lanes will have a minimum speed limit of 80 and a maximum speed limit of 120.

Starting April 1, for those who violate the speed limit, a warning will be issued. Staring may, motorists caught in violation of the speed limits will be subject to a fine of AED400.
