UAE petrol prices to change for September 2023

The petrol prices across the country went up in August following a similar increase in July.

Prices have fluctuated in the past 12 months, but are significantly lower than this time last year. In August 2022, E-Plus 91 was priced at AED3.84 a litre, while diesel was set at AED4.14 a litre.

Special 95, Super 98, and E-Plus all increased in August, while diesel prices also went up.

Some petrol prices are at the highest level this year, with E-Plus 91 having passed the AED3 per litre level for the first time in August.

Despite three consecutive months of increases, diesel is currently cheaper than the year-high of AED3.38 per litre in February.

Since August 1, the cost of filling up vehicles in the UAE has been:

• Special 95 – AED3.02 litre from AED2.89 in July
• Super 98 – AED3.14 a litre from AED3.00 in July
• E-Plus – AED2.95 a litre from AED2.81 in July
• Diesel – AED2.95 a litre from AED2.76 in July

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Fuel Price Committee froze petrol prices, preventing any changes.

However, in March 2021, as global oil prices began to rise, the controls were lifted to allow market forces to determine petrol prices once again.

Moreover, the fluctuation in petrol prices is also influenced by the surge in crude oil prices worldwide.
