Air Arabia set to increase flights to Beirut

UAE-based low-cost carrier says it will add five weekly flights to city from May 1

Air Arabia, the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, is set to increase its flights to Beirut to twice daily.

From May 1, the number of weekly services between the carrier’s base in Sharjah and the Lebanese capital will increase from nine to 14.

They will depart from Sharjah International Airport daily at 8am and 6.15pm, returning from Beirut International Airport daily at 12pm and 10.15pm.

“Beirut was among the first destinations we started serving when Air Arabia launched operations October 2003. Today’s announcement further underscores Air Arabia’s commitment to Lebanese market, and we are proud to see services increased to double daily, thus connecting our customers in UAE and Lebanon with a great frequency and un-beatable fares,” Air Arabia CEO Adel Ali said.

Air Arabia, the first low-cost carrier in the region, serves more than 85 destinations from hubs in the UAE, Morocco and Egypt.

The airline’s passenger traffic increased 13 percent to 5.3m passengers in 2012.

It also reported a high 82 percent seat load factor, which the airline said indicated strong demand.
