The Festival Waterfront Centre, the next phase of development in Dubai Festival City’s retail district, opened on December 14, just in time for the start of the 2006 Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
The total retail area of Dubai Festival City (DFC) will span more than 195,000m², and further phases of construction, which will include a host of retail, dining, entertainment and hospitality venues, will continue to come online throughout 2007.
The final development will feature ninety restaurants, bistros and cafés, offering a mix of international cuisine. The Skywalk Entertainment Level, scheduled to open later this year, will add a 12-screen Grand Cinema, a Fitness First gym, Skywalk Food Court and Bowling City.
The 2300m² Dubai Gold Marketplace will feature 60 shops showcasing collections from leading gold retailers, and offering custom-made designs.
“Dubai Festival City [will ensure] the future growth of Dubai as a world-renowned retail and tourism destination,” said Omar Al-Futtaim, CEO of the Al-Futtaim Group, developer of Dubai Festival City.
