Saudi Arabia’s National Air Services has launched all business class flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to Dubai, and from Jeddah to Dammam.
A return flight – out in the morning, back in the evening – is available for at least five days per week on all routes.
The service, known as Al Khayala, is described as a cross between the private charter services offered by NAS and regular scheduled business class flights.
Al Khayala will operate Airbus A319 aircraft, which typically accommodate 170 passengers, but will be configured for only 44 people on the new service.
National Air Services also launched a budget airline, NAS Air, at the end of February, offering flights for as low as SR99 within Saudi Arabia.
The company says that it plans an initial public offering (IPO) as early as 2008 in order to fund expansion.
It has already said that it will spend $2 billion on 75 planes and create a fleet of 100 by 2010. That includes business jets that people can use on a time-share basis.
