Pakistan airport shut for 5 months

The airport will be upgraded to meet international standards, including expanding apron space to accommodate more flights, creating new lounges, and upgrading the control tower

Pakistan Turbat Airport

Pakistan’s Turbat Airport will remain closed for night operations until August 25 for repair works, according to a circular issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

Pakistan Turbat Airport to be ‘upgraded’

The airport will be upgraded to meet international standards, including expanding apron space to accommodate more flights, creating new lounges, and upgrading the control tower.

The airport was established in the 1970s when a runway was built for commercial flights, and a small apron was made operational for small aircraft.

The airport is the second-largest city in the southwestern region of Pakistan, after the one in the provincial capital.

The decision to shut down Turbat airport’s night operations follows a similar decision to close Nawabshah airport for two months.

The CAA stated that the closure is necessary to upgrade the facilities and ensure passenger safety.

The authority is committed to enhancing air travel by providing high-quality services, modern facilities, and strict safety measures.

The closure of the airport for night operations will affect several airlines and their passengers.

The CAA has advised airlines to adjust their schedules and inform their passengers accordingly.

The authority has also asked the airlines to cooperate during the repair work and to ensure the safety of their passengers.
