Ritz-Carlton Dubai introduces GPS guest services

The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, has introduced a series of innovative services to make life easier for the region’s business travellers.

The hotel’s concierge service now offers a selection of mobile global positioning systems (GPS) that will help guests to find their way around the city.

“We are pleased to announce that we are the first hotel in the Middle East to introduce this service, and it has already had such a positive impact on our guests,” said Sameh Ibrahim, the hotel’s director of information technology.

Guests can rent either a mobile phone or a personal digital assistance (PDA) device, both of which are integrated with a GPS receiver, which has been preloaded with SuperNav navigation software and maps of Dubai and the UAE.

The devices map out the route between the hotel and the guest’s final destination and provide visual and audio directions once the user enters the relevant information.

They are also handy tools for businessmen who have a number of meetings scheduled throughout the day, as they will automatically find the path from one meeting to another, as well as provide the estimated travel time.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. has also reintroduced its Luggageless Travel service, whereby customers who stay in a Ritz-Carlton Hotel more than four times per month can leave their suitcase at the hotel upon check-out.
