dnata Travel has reported a 35 percent rise in international bookings for July and August 2024 compared to the same period last year.
The agency is currently assisting thousands of travelers with pre-booked itineraries and late bookings through multiple channels, which includes 14 retail stores across the country, as one of the busiest weekends for travel approaches.
Thailand, the Maldives, Mauritius, Turkey and the UK were the top 5 most popular destinations for international travel from the UAE this summer, according to dnata Travel.
Mauritius has emerged among the ‘top three’ most-booked holiday destinations, with bookings to the island growing rapidly alongside Germany and Malaysia.
Around 90 percent of total bookings this year were for international trips, compared to 10 percent for domestic vacations within the UAE.
In contrast, the ratio was 65 percent international and 35 percent domestic during Eid al-Adha break in 2024, showing a significant rise in demand for overseas travel.
“International travel is in high demand this summer, with destinations including Mauritius, Malaysia, and Germany witnessing some of the strongest growth we’ve seen this year. Mauritius and Malaysia offer the chance to stay on world-class beaches and in exceptional resorts at affordable prices. Kuala Lumpur is also a popular destination in Asia for a city break for its impressive skyline, and opportunities for shopping and dining. Meanwhile, Germany’s vibrant cities are popular this month, as travellers seek to soak up the action of the UEFA European Football Championship, taking place across the country,” Meerah Ketait, Head of Retail and Leisure UAE at dnata Travel said.
The agency continues to monitor booking trends and offer exclusive rates to local customers in partnership with long-term international partners.
dnata Travel’s summer campaign includes late travel deals to hot beaches and cities worldwide.
“Highlight offers include holidays in popular summer destinations Thailand, Maldives, Mauritius, and Turkey. A top offer in the trending destination of Thailand includes a three-night stay at the 5-star Pimalai Resort and Spa, Krabi on Full Board with complimentary extras including an excursion, a spa treatment for adults, and activity for kids, in addition to return flights and airport transfers, from AED4,000 per person,” the statement said.
