Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the eldest son of the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, has died this morning.
The official state news agency WAM said the 33-year-old suffered a heart attack.
“We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” the Dubai Ruler Court said on Saturday.
A keen horse lover, Sheikh Rashid was the owner of Zabeel Stables.
The burial of late Sheikh Rashid will take place at Umm Hurair cemetery in Bur Dubai this evening, following the funeral prayers for the deceased at the Zabeel Mosque.
A three-day mourning period has been declared in Dubai. UAE flags will be flown at half mast during the period. Work in government departments and institutions in Dubai will continue as usual, it was announced by Dubai Media Office.
