Urban freeclimber James Kingston has posted a new video showing him reaching new heights, literally, at the top of the tallest residential building in the world.
Marina 101, which towers over Dubai Marina near Torch Tower and Media City, is not yet completed, allowing the Brit to use cranes to reach the very summit. Officially the building stands at 426m, though the highest point while it is under construction is thought to be more than 450m.
The six-minute video is one of almost 40 on Kingston’s own YouTube channel. The site features the ‘adventurer and YouTuber’ all over the world, including walking over Wembley and the famous arch, exploring the Sepulveda Dam, climbing abandoned ski lifts and the Alps, and previous death-defying acts in Dubai.
In this latest offering, he revealed just reaching the top of the unoccupied tower took an hour and a half.

‘It was the warmest/driest building I’ve ever come across and I only had a small bottle of water with me,’ he said. ‘I came across a few workers on the way up who wished me a good day and shook my hand. The workers in Dubai seem to mostly be from India and are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.’
Kingston provides a commentary while wearing a head-mounted camera during the latest video.
Set during sunrise, he is interupted at one point by a crane driver setting up for a days work.
Describing the terrifying moment he was made aware that someone had joined him, the stuntman said: ‘Out of nowhere the crane fired up and things started twisting and moving. I had no idea what was going on. Turns out the crane driver had managed to get up the crane and into the cabin without neither of us seeing each other.’
As he says himself: ‘Crazy, huh?’ Yes James.
