Salaries for expats and Kuwaitis revealed

Of the categories listed, salaries were highest for Kuwaiti males working in the public sector.

According to the Al Shall report the average monthly salary of a Kuwaiti male in the public sector is KD1,929 ($6,277).

This is 43 per cent more than the average wage of KD1,350 ($4,393) paid to Kuwaiti women in the public sector.

Expat males in the public sector in the country can expect an average salary of KD787 ($2,560), with women earning an average of KD698 ($2,271). This means the gender pay gap for foreigners works out at a more equitable 12.7 per cent.

The average wage of citizens in the public sector is KD1,583 ($5,151) and KD742 ($2,413) for foreigners. Al Shall reports that citizens are paid an average of more than 113 per cent more than expats in the public sector.

Kuwaiti males in the private sector earn an average of KD1,589 ($5,169), compared to KD1,001 ($3,260).

Non-national males in the private sector, on the other hand, have an average salary of KD305 ($993). Non-national females, on average, earn more than males with an average salary of KD425 ($1,384).

In total, across public and private sectors, the average salaries in the country are reported as:

The report notes that the figures do not include domestic workforce, which would have a downward impact on the average salaries of expats in the country.
