Saudi embraces flexible work and freelance opportunities in evolving labour market

Saudi jobs freelance work contract

Saudi Arabia is embracing modern working patterns, with large numbers of freelance permits, flexible contracts and remote positions available in the Kingdom.

Statistics on modern work patterns in Saudi Arabia show that in the first half of this year, 2,358,000 freelance work papers, 377,800 flexible work contracts, and 115,000 remote work papers were issued.

Companies accepting remote work numbered 7,800.

In the same period, 7,600 companies followed flexible work patterns, there were 1,674,600 freelance workers, 281 self-employed, 47 service providers, and 15 e-services for modern work platforms were launched.

Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Chairman of Future Work Company Eng. Ahmed al-Rajhi said the figures reflect the magnitude of response to the changes in the labour market, and of the endeavour to keep pace with them at organisational and supervisory levels.

It also empowers Saudis to embrace modern work patterns, and use their abilities and skills to contribute to the economic development.

The Future Work Company continues its efforts to grant discounted medical insurance packages for freelancers, partnering with several banking services to make it easy for freelancers to benefit from bank products and e-payments, as well as launching the “Madd Platform” to offer sustainable employment opportunities that keep pace with modern work patterns.
